PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

In a new directive, President Obama nullified major provisions of the 2012 Defense Authorization law that would have mandated military custody for terrorist suspects, retaining that authority to the Executive Branch.

The Administration’s proposed budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their health care, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched.

Pray for President Obama and his advisors and their relationships with the legislature and military.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

The Obama Administration is starting to shut down a program that deputized local police officials to act as immigration agents, with Homeland Security saying it is their least productive program and will save $17 million.

During a White House event marking the passage of the payroll tax cut extension, President Obama instructed Congress to “keep it going,” saying the American people have no patience for gridlock.

Pray for President Obama and his advisers as they seek ways to increase revenue and decrease spending.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

Education Secretary Arne Duncan proposed a $5 billion competitive grant program to encourage states to overhaul the teaching profession, using its Race to the Top school improvement competition as a model.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta defended proposed Pentagon budget cuts and urged lawmakers to take stock of the reductions the military is making in base closures, troop reductions, and overall revamping of military strategies.

Pray about the President’s budget and that spending increases or reductions are in the nation’s best interest.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

President Obama announced a new “public advocate” charged with listening to immigrants’ concerns about law enforcement policies. Andrew Lorenz Strait will head the agency which is part of the Homeland Security Department.

The Obama Administration has dialed up political pressure on Russia and China as violence continues unabated in Syria, and those two nations exercised their veto power against a UN resolution calling for Assad to step down.

Pray for President Obama, his cabinet and regulators, as they deal with critical foreign and domestic issues.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

Midwestern lawmakers and union groups are urging President Obama to restrict imports of auto parts from China that they said benefitted from illegal subsidies and threatened hundreds of thousands of American jobs.

President Obama’s small business growth plan includes a proposal to eliminate country-specific caps for certain visa categories, particularly those with high technology skills, since businesses are asking for more educated employees.

Pray about steps that President Obama and his advisers may take to stimulate job growth in the U.S.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

President Obama pledged Tuesday night to use government power to balance the scale between America’s rich and the rest of the public, presenting a choice between “an economy meant to last” and past irresponsible policies.

A new mortgage-crisis unit will be headed by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, charged with investigating mortgage misconduct and illegal activities, President Obama announced Tuesday night.

Pray for wisdom for President Obama and his advisers as he increases use of executive powers over the economy.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

Some legal experts, including those who have sided with President Obama on other constitutional issues, think there is a good chance the courts could overturn his recent recess appointments as the Senate was not formally adjourned.

President Obama’s State of the Union address next Tuesday will aim for the tricky balance of claiming credit for promises kept while tacitly acknowledging there is a lot more to be done, especially on jobs and the economy.

Pray for President Obama and his speechwriters and advisers as they prepare his State of the Union address.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

President Barack Obama says that he wants to reward companies that invest in America and eliminate tax breaks for companies that don’t, and he’s planning new tax proposals that would accomplish just that.

White House Chief of Staff William Daley resigned this week after a year on the job, shaking up the administration’s senior management. President Obama has appointed OMB Chief Jacob Lew to take over that position.

Pray for President Obama and the members of his staff and cabinet as they begin election year fast paced activities.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

President Barack Obama has circumvented Senate opposition and recess-appointed his nominee to head the newly created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Saying, “We can’t wait,” he named Richard Cordray to the post.

According to the Office of Inspector General, higher-ups in the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are pressuring rank-and-file officers to rubber-stamp immigration visas, sometimes while overlooking other concerns.

Pray for President Obama and his relationship this year with the U.S. Congress.

PRAY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

The Treasury Department has declined to name China a currency manipulator, a label that lawmakers from both parties want slapped on Bejing, but did say that China needs to be more flexible about manipulating the yuan.

President Obama will ask Congress to increase the government’s debt ceiling by at least $1.2 trillion in order for the U.S. to pay its bills on time, thus increasing the debt to $16,394 trillion.

Pray that in 2012 the President will lead the way in lowering the nation’s debt by lowering government costs.
