The U.S. Supreme Court refused to order emergency measures that might prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes, despite a warning that the exotic fish pose a “dire threat” to the region’s environment and economy.

Pray for the wisdom of the courts as they consider such diverse issues as illegal immigration and exotic fish threats.

PRAY FOR OUR JUDICIARY

The United States Supreme Court said it will revisit the issue of affirmative action as it relates to university admissions using race as a factor when it hears a case involving the University of Texas next fall.

The Supreme Court of Alabama appears to have affirmed the concept of “personhood” by suggesting that states simply “reject” of pre-viability abortion-at-will that comes from Roe v. Wade until the Supreme Court overrules the precedent.

Pray for wisdom for our jurists as they deal with issues impacting individual rights and social mores.

Questions about the safety of Supreme Court Justices have been raised by U.S. Marshals in the wake of a robbery involving Justice Stephen Breyer on the island of Nevis. The FBI is searching for the machete-waving thief.

Pray for the safety of the members of our courts, whether on the bench, at home, or on vacation.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg advised the Egyptian people to ignore the U.S. Constitution when preparing their own, saying it is “just too old” to have any teaching value or to be used as an example for democracy.

The California Supreme Court upheld legislation that ended a roughly 60-year-old program intended to combat urban blight. As a result, more than 40 redevelopment agencies have closed, and cities are scrambling to find an alternative.

Multiple “friend of the court” briefs have been filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of free speech for students and parents in what has become known as the “Candy Cane Case,” about religious symbols of the candy.

Pray for wisdom for the members of the Courts from local levels up to the Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that police officers cannot use GPS devices to track a suspect without first obtaining a warrant, saying it would constitute unreasonable search under the Fourth Amendment.

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal law that bans foreign nations from spending to influence U.S. elections, saying that the right to live and work in the U.S. does not include the right to influence voting.

When the U.S. Supreme Court resumes on January 9, it will take up a trio of politically sensitive issues including redistricting maps, whether media can be fined for “fleeting expletives” and possible EPA over-regulation.
