OTHER PRAYER CONCERNS:

THE WAR

Two suspected U.S. drone missile strikes hit an area of Pakistan’s volatile northwest, teeming with militants suspected in the double-agent suicide bomb attack on the CIA there.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated that the U.S. will not transfer any more detainees from Guantanamo to Yemen, although remaining committed to closing that facility in Cuba.

Pray that all those charged with the administration of the war effort will seek divine wisdom

TERRORISM

Yemeni forces surrounded a suspected al Qaeda regional leader near the capital, also capturing three militants in a raid.

A federal appeals court has affirmed the conviction and life sentence of 9/11 co-conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.

Pray that more of those inflicting terror on America and the world would be eliminated, caught and convicted.

THE ECONOMY

The rate of job losses at U.S. private employers slowed in December, and the services sector showed marginal growth, underlining the tentative nature of an economic recovery.

The number of people preparing to buy a home fell sharply indicating a winter dip in what had been an encouraging housing market.

Pray for all those families impacted by job loss, home equity loss, and other economic downturns

ISRAEL AND THE MIDDLE EAST

Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon has expressed pessimism on the restarting of talks with the Palestinian Authority, stating that “imposed solutions just will not happen.”

Egyptian security forces and Palestinians clashed at the Gaza border Wednesday over the delay of an international aid convoy, killing one Egyptian and wounding 10 Palestinians.

Continue to pray for peace in this troubled land, including praying for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 112)

HEALTH CARE

A former director of the Congressional Budget Office has asserted that the Senate health care bill could end up hitting middle-class workers hard, through a new tax on insurance plans that could ultimately cut into take-home wages.

The current recession has slowed the growth in healthcare spending to its lowest rate in nearly 50 years, although it continues to climb into record shares of the economy.

Pray for families and others who have put off necessary medical attention because of personal economic conditions

In your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason
for the hope that you have.
I Peter 3:15
